ROADTRIP SERIES
Stuttgart
We’ve teamed up with Tobias Henreich to travel some epic roads in Stuttgart. Scroll to see and hear all about it.
It's early in the morning, I have a hot coffee in my hand and am looking through the windscreen of the Porsche 968 at the Porsche Museum - for me personally, this architecturally sophisticated automobile museum is one of the best in the world.
I deliberately chose the 968 for my road trip: The folding headlights, the transaxle concept with the engine at the front and the transmission at the rear, paired with three pedals and a manual gearbox. What could be better than driving this car on a sunny autumn day in and around Stuttgart?

THE DRIFT
“ Driving a historical porsche 968 with three pedals, my choice for perfect feeling and comfort were my Piloti Drifts. Since many years I always have my Pilotis on my feet when going on a roadtrip. ”

" From the best automotive museums, to winding roads through colorful vineyards and curvy passes across the Swabian Alb "

My second stop is only a few minutes' drive away - the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Weissenhofsiedlung".
This place is one of my favourite places to photograph cars, because the architecture is minimalist, timeless and perfect as a background motif. Small fact on the side: from there you also have a perfect view of Stuttgart's famous TV tower.
But then it was time to leave the city and head to one of the many beautiful vineyards in the area. Once there, it's time for a typical Swabian snack with a perfect view over the Stuttgart valley basin: a pretzel. Freshly fortified, the Swabian Alb now awaits us. We're talking perfect curves, little traffic and lots of nature. This is the place where the Porsche 968 really comes to life! It lies perfectly on the road, turns in swiftly and directly and rewards the driver beyond measure. The engineers back then knew exactly what they had to do to make it possible to experience so much driving pleasure more than 30 years after its market launch.
The crowning glory of my road trip is the ridge at Hohenstaufen, one of the Kaiserberge mountains. The exhaust of the 968 provides me with happy pings in the background and life is good.
